Congregational Care

We Could Care Less, But We Have Decided to Care More -- GSPC Motto

We are particularly aware of the need to care for the people who are part of the life of this congregation.  The Congregational Care committee is where that care is manifested on a practical day-to-day basis, in the following areas.

Prayer Chain.  The GSPC prayer chain is a group of volunteers who are dedicated to bringing the joys and concerns of congregational members and friends to God in prayer on an immediate basis.  Many have commented over the years on the great encouragement it has been simply to know that they are being lifted up in prayer during their times of need.  Items brought to the prayer chain are held within the group unless permission to share is given.

ReceptionSamaritan Meals.  This ministry organizes a group of volunteers willing to provide meals on a short-term basis to members and families of the congregation.  This is typically done after a hospitalization, the birth of a baby, a death, or whatever event may limit a person from preparing their own meals.

Hospitality and Transportation.  This group of volunteers is responsible for planning and executing receptions following funerals and memorial services at GSPC.  In these circumstances the family is relieved of any concern for such an event.  Also, when necessary, the committee works to furnish transportation to members to medical appointment or other similar events when that person lacks other reliable transportation.

Stephen Ministry LogoStephen Ministry.  Our Stephen Ministry is affiliated with the national organization of the same name.  This ministry allows us to care for our congregation and community in a deep and personal way.  In Stephen Ministry congregations (such as ours), lay caregivers (called Stephen Ministers) provide one-to-one Christian care to the bereaved, hospitalized, terminally ill, separated, divorced, unemployed, relocated, and others facing a crisis or life challenge.  GSPC currently has 7 serving Stephen Ministers.

If you have any questions or wish to bring a particular need to the church's attention, please contact the pastor or the church office.  You can be assured that confidences will be respected.
